Marshall Johnston joined Argent Mineral Management in 2025 as a mineral manager in the Shreveport, Louisiana, office. A second-generation landman, he brings over 18 years of experience in both field and in-house land work, having supported companies across Louisiana, Arkansas, and Texas.
Before joining Argent, Marshall worked with Cypress Energy Partners, LLC in Shreveport, where he negotiated with landowners and corporate entities to secure water rights, facilitate lake construction, and oversee the placement of temporary water lines supporting well fracking operations in Harrison and Panola Counties in Texas, as well as Bienville Parish in Louisiana. He developed and managed contracts, agreements, and tracking tools related to water transfer, procurement, and construction for large exploration companies. Prior to his time at Cypress, Marshall worked as an independent landman, handling in-house duties for several smaller oil and gas exploration companies in the Shreveport area. He is experienced with division orders, leasing, mineral sales, surface agreements, and a variety of other industry contracts.
Marshall holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Louisiana State University Shreveport. He is a member of the American Association of Petroleum Landmen and the Ark-La-Tex Association of Petroleum Landmen, where he currently serves on the board. He is also experienced in working with the Louisiana Department of Conservation (SONRIS), the Arkansas Oil & Gas Commission, and the Texas Railroad Commission.
Marshall was born and raised in Shreveport, where he currently resides with his wife, Erin, and their two dogs. Outside of work, he enjoys golf, cooking, playing guitar, and gathering with friends and family for LSU and New Orleans Saints football games.
