Argent Financial Group Appoints Williams Chief Legal Counsel

  • September 16, 2014

ATLANTA, Sept. 16, 2014 – Wealth management firm Argent Financial Group has appointed David Williams its General Counsel.

The 40-year legal professional already serves as executive vice president and manager of fiduciary services for Argent Trust Company, the firm’s Tennessee-chartered trust entity. Williams works from the firm’s Atlanta office.

Williams’ extensive experience evaluating employee stock ownership plans and fiduciary practices made him a natural fit to manage legal affairs for Argent Financial Group and its seven corporate subsidiaries, according to Argent CEO Kyle McDonald.

“For more than four decades, David Williams has demonstrated an expert ability to assess the fundamentals of a business and offer solutions to improve efficiencies and profitability,” McDonald said. “His clients are better positioned for success because of his legal talents so it was a great fit to utilize his skill set more broadly for the Argent family.”

Williams joined Argent in July when the Ruston, La.-based wealth management firm acquired a line of fiduciary business from Reliance Trust Company and opened an Atlanta office. The move firmly expanded the company’s reach into the Atlanta market and added service offerings including  a national employee stock ownership plan practice.

Previously, Williams founded the Atlanta office of Schiff Hardin LLP law firm and managed the firm’s employee benefits and executive compensation practice. Prior to that, he was a partner at Hunton & Williams and Powell, Goldstein, Frazer & Murphy.
