1| Which nonprofit are you passionate about serving?
Big Brothers Big Sisters
History: For almost 40 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwest Louisiana has operated under the belief that inherent in every child is the ability to succeed and thrive in life. As the Region’s largest donor- and volunteer-supported mentoring network, Big Brothers Big Sisters of SWLA makes meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers (“Bigs”) and children (“Littles”). 2| How long have you been volunteering?
I have been volunteering for two years.
3| What do you do when you volunteer?
Outside of my Board of Directors meetings at our annual fundraiser “Bags and Brew” I donate my time by helping to set up for the event. My talent is organizing activities so I use that talent to make the event flow as seamless as possible.
4| How would you encourage others to get involved in their community?
Find something you enjoy doing for a worthy cause and put your talents to use in helping that organization.
5| In one sentence, can you explain why you donate your time to this organization.
As an only child I see the value in providing the support for children who may not have a sibling to help guide them in school or everyday life.
6| What would you say to someone who’s thinking of volunteering?
It can be the most rewarding opportunity if you choose your organization with heartfelt emotion.
