Chris is Senior Vice President at Argent Financial and works with Argent Retirement Plan Advisors, a Registered Investment Advisory (RIA) firm within the company specializing in retirement and benefit consulting. He partners with sponsors of plans of various sizes and types, helping them design and maintain benefit structures while addressing fiduciary obligations and plan governance issues. His services include vendor monitoring and selection (including RFPs), investment analysis and selection, target date reviews, plan design considerations, education for all parties, and fee benchmarking.
With over 34 years of experience providing tax and retirement solutions, Chris serves clients across the South. Before joining Argent, he held a similar role at Capital One, N.A. (formerly Hibernia National Bank) for over 20 years and began his career with PriceWaterhouse Coopers (now PricewaterhouseCoopers).
Key achievements include:
- In 2014, Chris was appointed by the U.S. Treasury to the IRS Advisory Committee on Tax Exempt and Governmental Entities (The ACT) for a two-year term. He was asked to extend his appointment in 2016 for an additional year, completing his service in 2017.
- He served on the AICPA Employee Benefits Technical Resource Panel, a working committee tasked with monitoring tax legislation, regulatory developments, and official guidance affecting employee benefits and compensation. He chaired the committee from 2011 to 2013.
- From 2015 to 2019, Chris served on the AICPA Tax Executive Committee, the senior policy-making body for all taxation matters at the AICPA.
- In 2016, Chris was named to the American Bar Association’s (ABA) Joint Committee on Employee Benefits (JCEB) as the AICPA’s liaison, representing shared interests between the organizations on employee benefit issues.
- He is an active member of the Louisiana CPA Society (LCPA), where he serves on the Members in Industry committee and chairs the Human Resources committee.
- Since 2011, Chris has served on the ASPPA Government Affairs – IRS Subcommittee.
A frequent speaker at CPE/CLE events nationwide, Chris is also active in advocacy efforts with policy and rule-makers on various employee benefit issues. His goal is to help employers establish and maintain effective retirement and benefit plans, while ensuring compliance with fiduciary responsibilities and plan governance. Chris serves clients in North Louisiana, the DFW metroplex, North and Central Mississippi, and East Tennessee.
Outside of work, Chris enjoys serving on the worship team at his church, where he plays keyboards for the contemporary band. He and his wife, Sara, have two children and are avid scuba divers, holding many advanced certifications.
