NASHVILLE, Tennessee, May 28, 2019 – Cort Bethmann, a vice president and wealth advisor at Argent Trust Company in Nashville, recently earned his Latin Legum Magister (LL.M.) degree in wealth management from Texas A&M University School of Law.

Texas A&M University School of Law’s Wealth Management LL.M. program offers knowledge and skills needed to advise wealthy clients and families and provide top-tier management for their assets. The program, taught by a mix of lawyers, academics, and financial professionals, offers a comprehensive education on subjects connected to long-term wealth creation and preservation, such as governance, investment and expansion, exit strategies, and estate and family planning.

“Having the LL.M. wealth management degree will be invaluable to me as I continue to advise clients as a fiduciary at Argent Trust Company,” Bethmann said. “I’ve gained a deeper understanding of the specific issues and concerns faced by affluent clients, as well as strategies to assist them in growing and retaining their wealth for generations to come.”

Bethmann previously received his J.D. from Texas A&M School of Law and his B.A. from the University of Tennessee. He draws on his law experience in advising clients on complex estate planning, strategic asset protection, challenging family dynamics, charitable giving strategies and legacy planning.

Bethmann joined Franklin-based Independence Trust Company in 2012, which merged with Argent Trust Company in 2017. He is a licensed attorney in Tennessee and Texas, and actively participates in several area organizations: the Estate Planning Counsel of Middle Tennessee, the Nashville Bar Association, the Nashville Bar Probate & Estate Planning Sections and the Williamson County Bar Association.

“Along with our entire Argent family in Nashville, I want to congratulate Cort for obtaining this advanced wealth management degree,” said Greer Redden, senior vice president of Argent Trust Company’s Nashville office. “The knowledge he’s acquired through this program will help him deliver an even higher level of fiduciary-level service to our clients.”
