Chris is Senior Vice President with Argent Financial and operates from a Registered Investment Advisory (RIA) firm, Argent Retirement Plan Advisors, within the company focusing on Retirement Consulting. He works with sponsors of plans of a variety of sizes and types he and his firm help sponsors attend to the fiduciary obligations and plan governance issues. This includes vendor monitoring and selection (including RFPs), investment analysis and selection, target date reviews, plan design considerations, education of all parties and fee benchmarking.
Chris has over 32 years of experience in providing tax and retirement solutions to his clients across the South. Prior to joining Argent, Chris served clients in a similar role at Capital One, N.A. (formerly Hibernia National Bank) for over 20 years and started his career as an auditor with PriceWaterhouse Coopers (formerly Price Waterhouse).
Chris is a licensed Certified Public Accountant and Chartered Global Management Accountant. He is a member of the American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries (ASPPA), the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), and the Louisiana and Mississippi state accounting societies.
Chris is active in both his community and nationally. Within the AICPA, Chris has held several national leadership positions related to employee benefit matters and currently serves as a member of the Employee Benefits Technical Resource Panel which serves as a resource for the organization to monitor the employee benefits landscape and develop guidance, tools and communications for members of a technical nature. Within ASPPA, Chris serves on the 401k subcommittee of the Government Affairs committee, which drafts comments and opinion letters, and interfaces with the IRS, Treasury and DOL officials concerning these plans for the organization. He has also held several leadership roles within the Society of Louisiana CPAs. In 2014, Chris was appointed by the U.S. Treasury to the Advisory Committee on Tax Exempt and Government Entities (IR2014-65) which provides consultation to the IRS to improve efficiencies and service. Chris is a frequent speaker within the accounting and legal communities on retirement plan issues and is invited to attend many national conference events.
Chris enjoys his service on the worship team of his Church where he plays keyboards for the contemporary band. He and his wife, Sara, have two children and are all avid scuba divers holding many advanced certifications.
