Meet David Thibodeaux, who is with Argent Trust in Baton Rouge and has been with us for 2 years.
Q. What led you to Argent and what makes it unique?
A. I was asked by Argent’s Louisiana Market President to open the firm’s 31st location in Baton Rouge to continue its growth across the state of Louisiana. I had previously spent the prior 28 years in the trust and estate practice area with a large national bank. I am humbled to now represent a truly independent trust company here in the capital city.
Q. Why do you enjoy working at Argent?
A. Argent’s mission to protect, manage and grow wealth closely parallels what I have strived to accomplish for my clients. I can now focus and design my client’s strategies without any proprietary restraints.
Q. What does the company mean to you?
A. A sustainable, independent fiduciary-based wealth management firm determined to always place its client’s needs first.
Q. What is the biggest trend you see in personal trust administration around estate planning?
A. I am noticing an increase in estate planning attorneys utilizing a revocable living trust as the backbone of their client’s estate plan. The benefits of this basic strategy include probate avoidance, privacy, assistance in avoidance of elder financial abuse, provide continued administration of assets for minors and can help when planning for incapacity.
Q. What is a random fact about you?
A. I am a native of Houma, Louisiana, just a few miles from the coast of the Gulf of Mexico. My father was an avid sport fisherman and taught me many of his success and wisdom. At the age of 16, I caught my first Tarpon weighing close to 180 pounds. The fish outweighed me by probably 60 pounds and was noted as the largest tarpon caught in the parish that year.
Q. What is your favorite quote?
A. “If you really look closely, most overnight successes took a long time,”-Steve Jobs
